The ZGD is the only geography didactics journal in the German-speaking world with a purely academic focus. The journal regularly publishes articles by international authors in German and English. The ZGD pursues the following aims:

     (1) to disseminate results of research in geography didactics nationally and internationally,

     (2) to promote interest in research in geography didactics,

     (3) to provide a forum for the discussion of research in geography didactics,

     (4) promote young researchers in geography didactics,

     (5) demonstrate the relevance of research findings for professional teaching practice,

     (6) demonstrate the relevance of research findings for teacher education,

     (7) provide information for educational policy decisions,

     (8) report on conferences and review new publications.
